Meet Flaca I'm a mixed-breed girl with a good bit of German Shepherd in me, and it shows: I'm sharp, I pick up on things quickly, and I have that steady, watchful confidence GSDs are known for. But I'm also a soul who's had to be careful — life on the street teaches you that — so I tend to be reserved with strangers at first. Give me a little time and patience, though, and you'll see just how deeply loyal and loving I can be. Once I bond with someone, I bond for life. I'm calm and respectful with other dogs and cats alike, genuinely happiest when I can coexist peacefully with everyone around me. I love walks, exploring parks and rivers, and playing with other dogs. I'm still learning my leash manners, but I'm a fast learner (it's a Shepherd thing) and I improve every day. I'm active and do best with a person who can give me a job, a routine, or regular activity to keep my mind and body busy. In return, I'll be your devoted shadow and quiet protector: confident and alert, but never needlessly hostile. I just want to know my person is safe, and I want to be the one looking out for them. If you're looking for a companion who's intelligent, deeply loyal, a little aloof with strangers but wholeheartedly yours once she trusts you, I might be exactly who you've been waiting for.

 Health note: Flaca had a badly broken hind leg at the hip in the past. A slight limp remains, but it doesn't stop her from running, jumping, and being a happy, well-rounded dog.
